Title: Adriatic Motor Launch Patrol, WW1
Post by: Nick Colley on January 24, 2018, 03:17:06 PM
Hi, chaps, a quick question:

Was the Adriatic ML Patrol based at the southern end of the Adriatic (Brindisi ?) or the northern end, Venice ? I'm fairly sure it was probably the southern end, but it's difficult to find a definitive answer (well, so far, anyway). Gould's censor 2A26 refers. I'll be writing it up for the Stampex display later this year.

Thanks a lot !

Naval Operations Vol IV, page 288 states:-
The flotilla consisted of thirty Motor Launches, and was based at Taranto
ML 149 was lost by a fire at Taranto on 10th Sept 1916

Hope of some use

A bit more-- There is a picture of a burnt out ML opposite page 256 in "Seas of Adventures" by E Keble Chatterton
It may be ML 149??

Ah-ha ! So it WAS in Naval Ops ? I read page 288 (and several more pages), but clearly not properly  :(.

Thanks for putting me right.
