Title: Schizophrenic FPO
Post by: Nick Colley on March 04, 2019, 01:07:29 PM
Folks, please inspect the attached. I don't know what to say about it. The same FPO with two numbers simultaneously??

Proud tells us both 626 and 435 were used by the Canadians, if that is relevant.

Any comments?

Nick

Read my book "British Forces Machine Postmarks 1940-1983" p.15 - recorded used with both these numbers 3 JNE 47 - 8 JNE 47 (and possibly 9 JNE 47).  Used in BAOR.  Recording on 4 JUN 47 from 32 Assault Engineer Regiment RE, Hameln with the notation 'from someone who was using FPO 424 from 21/7/47 to 1/48 (FPO 424 was located at Hannover at this time).

That is all the information we have on this Krag dual-numbered machine.

Your date has, therefore been recorded - in my view it is a rare cover; I have five different dates recorded.  I presume there is no information on the reverse of your cover.

Mike, it grieves me to have to confess I don't have a copy of your (obviously) worthy tome.  :-\

You are correct that there is nothing on the back of the cover.
