Title: WW1 APO Krag query
Post by: Michael Dobbs on June 24, 2019, 10:57:57 AM
I have received the following enquiry:

I am trying to identify a Krage machine cancel "Army P.O. ??" dated 17 Aug 1916 on mail with free frank of "Australian Infantry Force". Can anyone help?

I think an almost impossible query to answer - but over to you!

Looks like it could be Army PO3. This was located at Boulogne according to K&C

Well given the date it could only be APO 1, 2, 3, or 4 - given what you can see I would go with Alan's suggested ARMY P.O. 3 (Proud State 1V used 5/18 through to 10/19.

Alan & Peter

Many thanks for your responses, in what I still consider to be an impossible answer but you have narrowed the field.  Its a pity that there is nothing else on the cover which could help identify the location.
