Folks, I have a query from outside. The enquirer has managed to find four postcards from an individual serving at the airfield at Lenabo in Aberdeenshire in WW1. Before we get onto this chap, a little background is in order. I'm told the RNAS station at Lenabo was opened in 1916, and subsequently came under the RAF on 1st April 1918. The station closed in (about) 1923. The station had a post office (a RAF post office from 1/4/18). However, the postmark reads only LENABO/ABERDEENSHIRE, with no mention of the RAF. The writer of the four postcards is a Robert Ivan Womack. The cards date between 11/9/17 and 30/10/18, all addressed to his sister in London. Our enquirer has managed to obtain his RNAS service record: he joined up as a HO rating (Air Mechanic) on 19/11/14. His record shows him on the books of, firstly, HMS Pembroke III, then HMS President II, serving at various land locations in the UK. However, the story stops on 31/3/18, when he is discharged to the RAF. Our enquirer can discover nothing about his time in the RAF. Can anyone help him, or suggest where he might look?
