Title: 15 Field Coy RE
Post by: Alan Baker on February 19, 2020, 05:23:18 PM
They think it's all over - not a chance!

I am now starting on AK's index cards of FPO Nos. I have come across notes he made relating to CM2/897. He notes this number in July 1916 with FPO1 and August 1916 with FPO2. These were within exchange period phase 1. I have looked at Gould and Daniel relating to this and find:

FPO1 was exchanged with 23 Brigade and FPO2 with 25 Brigade, both with 8 Division on the Somme.
Daniel notes this CM as being allocated to 15 Field Coy RE, which was apparently attached to 8 Division.

There appears to be a minor discrepancy here in the FPO number used. Would mail from a Field Company be likely to be franked in a variety of places, within its division?
