Post by: Chris Weddell on April 10, 2020, 11:42:46 AM
I am slowly sorting out my to mount up boxes!!!

Can anyone help my with any information at all on these to London B.F.P.O. marks. One appears to be a machine cancel and the other a Blackwell type ???  Both covers are posted to RAF Seletar.

They are both clearly BFPO London marks, used by the Home Postal & Courier Communications Depot RE, Inglis Barracks, Mill Hill, London NW7.  When I get time (!) or a "round-to-it") I will add these postal markings and others to Ransom's book.

There does not appear to be any senders details, but clearly they are official mail and I would suggest from somewhere within the Ministry of Defence, but to do with RAF matters.

You will have seen my article on RAF Seletar in Journal 319 (Spring 2019).

Mike,

        Thank you for your help.

I did reread your article and that was helpful thanks.

Was I right about one of the postmarks being a Blackwell type?

You are correct the rubber packet datestamp BFPO LONDON / 3 can be classed as a Blackwell type datestamp.
