Title: Covers of the Day 4th June - US Bases in Caribbean
Post by: Alan Baker on June 04, 2020, 05:50:33 PM
I assume everyone is taking a well-earned rest today!

Here are two covers for the price of one. The first is from someone who presumably was working for the Pleasantville Constructors Inc on building the base in the Bahamas. It bears a typed label with the notation APO 618.

The second is from the Bermuda Base Contractors, APO unnumbered. Both covers bear stamps "Passed by US Army Examiner".

If anyone can point me in the direction of a listing of these examination numbers, it would be appreciated

Dear Alan,
A most useful book on US WWII censorship I find Richard W Helbrook (2006). Passed by Army Censor. It is a catalogue for the period 1941-42 with a listing of these examination numbers.
Regards
Marc
