Title: My Cover for Today 5th June US Forces in Siberia
Post by: Chris Grimshaw on June 05, 2020, 01:38:21 PM
Afternoon Team

Something a little different which has caught my interest lately.

American Intervention in Siberia 1919 / 20  Not seriously studied as yet, still digesting the published literature

YMCA Cover cancelled US POSTAL AGENCY SIBERIA July 31 19

Censored A E F SIBERIA cachet, signature looks like E M Vincent Chaplain?

Here is some information about Sgt. Earl Alfred Howard:

Born 27 July 1897 in Nebraska. Went to Siberia as a Private with Evacuation Hospital #17 on USAT Logan leaving San Francisco on 2 Sept. 1918 and arriving in Vladivostok on 29 Sept. Left Vladivostok on same transport as Sgt. 1st class on 11 Dec. 1919, arriving in San Francisco on 9 Jan. 1920. He died on 9 June 1978 and is buried in Fort Logan Natl. Cemetery in Denver.

I have a cover and letter from another soldier with Evac. Hosp. 17 who sailed to Siberia with Earl Howard. Will post separately.
