Title: MILITARY CENSORSHIP SIERRA LEONE.
Post by: Ross Debenham on August 27, 2020, 06:52:23 AM
I attach a couple of scans of a cover I have just purchased. It is post marked in September, 1940 on a date in September, 1940. It is censored using Type A.102 censor marker, that according to "West African Censorship" Third Edition by Martin, Walton and Harris was in use from 5 August, 1940 to 15 September, 1940. All is alright with that. Where i am once again a bit confused is the address of the sender of the cover. I have included a scan of this as it has me completely stumped. I hope members may be able to help me with "C.F." and "R.A.Q.D." if indeed it is that.

Ross

It is R.A.Ch.D. which is the ROYAL ARMY CHAPLAINS' DEPARTMENT  and the initials C.F. are Chaplain to the Forces.

Thanks Mike, I had a inkling that it was something to do with the chaplaincy.
