Title: Admiral Troubridge Naval Mission in Serbia 1914 16
Post by: Chris Grimshaw on April 10, 2021, 01:34:18 PM
Afternoon Team

As part of my continued studies in the Serbian Military campaign in  WWI a weighty tome which I purchased on eBay has arrived today.

Expecting a pamphlet a large volume has arrived.

'The British Naval Mission in Serbia, 1914 - 1916, with special reference to the work of Rear Admiral E.C.T. Troubridge' by Charles Fryer,  a thesis submitted for a Degree at the City of London.

First impressions a wealth of material.

Does anyone have any postal history material connected with this Mission?

Chris

Chris

I think you need to get hold of a copy of ALL IN THE DAY'S WORK by Commander C.L. Kerr, RN, published by Rich & Cowen in 1939. He was there.
Chapters 17 to 21 are very detailed on the retreat down to Albania

Over the last 20 odd years I remember two items from this unit on my list, from a Royal Marine who was sent up to mine the River Danube, the censor mark (Gould 4B43)  was in red on both items

Thanks Frank

On the Hunt for this, found a copy in the States, but seller shows as outside their delivery zone.

Have email them but no response as yet.
