Hi Peter

Cannot quite make out the IFPO on the reverse,  356 or 358?

I note a pencil marking 'Persia'

Peter

The same censor mark was discussed some years ago in the Aden and Somaliland study group, when somebody was trying to tie it to the Lahej campaign. Alistair Kennedy was very clear in his response that this mark was one of several similar used by IEF 'D' in Mesopotamia.

Unfortunately, I don't have a reference book to place the FPO - perhaps someone else can help?

I have a copy of Proud's IFPO's Volume II covering this period if we can confirm the number

Looks like 356 to me - could be 358. The dreaded added pencil mark is 356.....

thanks everyone for your feedback! I'm pretty sure it is FPO 356 (have compared it to depictions of 6 and 8 in Firebrace).

Best, Peter

Afternoon Team

Proud lists IFPO 356 (page 264) as PERSIA  -  S.O.  (Stationary Office? )

Location shown as Niriz ?  (6.2.18) - (9.12.18)

Note for readers not familiar with Proud's style of showing dates, : if within brackets not firm and could be extended.
