Title: WW1 Middle East Censor
Post by: Jim Mackay on October 20, 2021, 02:10:22 PM
I haven't come across this circular censor (?) mark in green on a Cairo PC dated 26 Dec 1917.
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Jim, As no one else replied.......

I have seen this written about, but can not locate in the FPHS Journals, so maybe elsewhere.

In fact I have seen the cachet on numerous occasions, with different date stamps and typically in green as yours, with the stars, but no written content, either on cards or the back of covers.

I have always thought this to be Egyptian Civil, but that does not answer the questions of how it manages to appear on FPO/APO covers and cards.

I will keep searching, but hopefully someone else can find reference to this.

Regards

Peter

Hi Peter.
Many thanks for this.

Since posting, a (non member) friend has suggested that it may be a Firebrace DM 11, but neither he or I have a copy of Firebrace's book.
