Title: New Zealand Censor WW2
Post by: Peter Gassmann on November 20, 2021, 02:08:03 PM
Hello All

does anyone have information about this type of censor mark and the FPO cancel? most likely by the New Zealand Forces? Seller mentioned Fiji?

best wishes, Peter

Hi Peter,

The postmark on this cover is one of the generic cancellations used by the NZEF in the Pacific. I seem to remember Robin Startup lists about 10 - 12 variations, but I not sure anyone has ever accurately pinned them to locations, but 2 NZEF would be the general designation.

The censor cachet is indeed military, with the numbers 10 to 60 allocated to Fiji, again I do not have the further definitive work on this - (I think you need)
Censored in the Pacific, by Robin Startup. Handbook Number 29, published by the Postal History Society of New Zealand
