Title: Late use of FPO 82 in South Russia
Post by: Chris Grimshaw on October 14, 2022, 02:30:52 PM
Currently working my way through some of what was described as a general lot of AK's Salonika material.

Among it was this little gem which I share with you.

Occupation of Transcaucasia

Cover to 'The Post Master General, GPO, London

Cancelled feint Field Post Office 82 - Code B – 26th June 1919

Censor 7 / 149 - This censor was allocated to 11th Battalion, The Worcestershire Regiment

Battalion served in 78th Brigade, 26th Division in Bulgaria until 4th May 1919.

They then transferred to 82nd Brigade, 27th Division in South Russia on the 10th May 1919 until 1st September 1919.

J Slingsby records that 82nd Brigade FPO merged with FPO D 27 in late March 1919.

Battalion and rest of Brigade moved to Gori via Tifilis 1st June 1919

This cover suggests that FPO 82 reopened at some stage whilst Battalion was at Gori
