Title: RAF Cover
Post by: Chris Grimshaw on March 20, 2023, 03:17:16 PM
Afternoon Team

Shown is a cover which the late Phil Schriber had sent me a few months ago.

Received from HM Ships  with a Oval RAF CENSOR 26 Endorsed 'Rec 5/6/42' with a censor signature.

Plain reverse.  Anyone add anything?

Adding to the notes from Alan.

I do not think this is unusual, that is, to see an RAF Censor with Received from HM Ships, especially on convoy mail, which is as Nick describes in the RAF Censor publication.

Nice strike of the censor cachet.

I believe that mails from troopships is an area that has not been researched very much, especially some of the army censor marks.
