Post by: Chris Grimshaw on October 02, 2014, 03:20:48 AM
Hi All

The "GALLIPOLIAN" Journal of the Gallipoli Association, No 60 Autumn 1989, has a 18 page extract from "The Tides of War and the Port of Bristol 1914-18" by W.G. Neale published in 1976 by the Port of Bristol Authority.

Covers the sailing of most of thed RND, 7 vessels, 29th Division 20 vessels, in February / March 1915

Followed by Yeomanry Regiments in April 1915 (approx 10,000 men.  17 vessels. Then in June the 13th Division, 20 vessels

Quote "In his second volume on Seabourne Trade C E Fayle states that 47 ships were used to transport the first three Divisions of the Gallipoli Expedition" 44 of these vessels are recorded with a detailed breakdown of units carried.

If of interest I can scan and supply copies of this article.

Have just purchased a run of this Journal from No 50 onwards.

Cheers

Chris
