Title: west african forces in egypt
Post by: Ross Debenham on November 09, 2014, 04:29:02 AM
I have an O.A.S cover post marked Egyptian Prepaid 44 dated 27 August, 1945 to the Niger News in Lagos. Can anybody in the society tell me if West African forces were in the Middle East in the later part of WW2 and who they would have been attached to. I have heard a rumour that they did guard duty in that theatre. I have tried to google as such but had no luck.

Thanks

Thanks Alistair
I recall seeing a cover in WASC Cameo a few years ago with Gambian stamps affixed. I will google that unit you mentioned and see if I can pick up anything on it there.
