Title: WW1 AP0 S 57 CM 5 2116
Post by: Peter Harvey on June 04, 2015, 04:33:07 PM
Hi,

I have had the following question come to me from a non member and wonder if anyone can help out. They are trying to locate the location where APO S57 was used 17 August 1917 with censor CM5 2116?

Any help appreciated.

Regards

I have no other record of censor 5/2116. Frank found types 5 and 6 too difficult to crack because there was no apparent logic in allocation of numbers as there had been earlier.

APO S57 is a little uncertain in the summer of 1917 - possible short lived locations, then by October in 10 Corps area in Flanders (Battles of Ypres).

Later location at Fruges (SW of St Omer) opened in May 1918.

Any clues such as censoring officer signature?
