Title: Chania to Salonika 1917 with Censor 3/4118
Post by: Chris Grimshaw on October 08, 2015, 11:35:16 AM
Hi All

Received the following from a friend in Greece,

"ppc posted at the Greek civilian Post Office at Chania (Crete) in June 1917, written by a British (soldier?) and properly franked at 10 lepta - the foreign postcard rate. Sent by ship to Salonica (see the faint triangular NO) where the Greek PO authorities forwarded it to the British military to be censored (no4118). Carried to England on the closed mailbag of a British warship receiving the "...no charge to be raised" postmark in London."

Censor 3/4118 is unallocated by FD I believe and not seen or recorded by myself.

Friends comments welcomed.

Cheers

Chris
