Post by: Chris Grimshaw on October 23, 2015, 01:49:24 PM
Hi All

A recent find, Registered cover from Batoum in May 1920 bearing the British Cousulate Batoum cachet, via APO Y 1 in Constantinople to London

No queries, just a very nice cover which I wanted to share.

Enjoy

Chris

Hi Chris,

Nice cover. Did I see this at Warwick and Warwick a few months back with some stunning crimea covers?

Hi Peter

Possibly, I know it was tucked into the back of an old time collection which contained a lot of G B used abroad in British Levant, some very nice material i believe.
Only heard about it after the auction, (: Warwick & Warwick is correct though.

Detective work and luck led me to it and wasn't going to let it escape.

Hi Chris

Thanks for showing this stunning cover. I have never seen a cover from the Occupation of Transcaucasia before.

Many years ago there were several covers from (or mailed through) the British Consulate in Batoum, only this one registered.
