Title: FPO 841
Post by: Chris Weddell on July 03, 2016, 08:29:44 PM
Hi all,

Can anyone tell me where FPO 841 was on the 7th of July 1977. Also at the top of the '2nd Royal Tank Regiment' dated box cachet is 'NERO'. Can anyone tell me what this stands for or means. Thank you in advance.

                                                          Cheers

Chris

FPO 841 was at this time allocated to FPO S.117 at Münster in Germany (BFPO 17).  However, I don't know what NERO signifies !

STOP PRESS !  I've just had a look at this web site: http://baor-locations.org/2RTR.aspx.html and believe that Nero is a squadron name (instead of the more usual and boring 'A' Sqn, 'B' Sqn, etc.)

And this website: http://www.army.mod.uk/documents/general/RAC_History_Royal_Tank_Regiment.pdf towards the bottom rights shows the structure and that up to 1992 at least includes the word Nero as a Squadron designation.  A very good and informative web page.
