Title: Malaya BMA Royal Engineers?
Post by: Susan McEwen on September 02, 2016, 05:42:40 PM
There is a type of Postmark, used in Johore Malaya during the BMA, which is described as 'made by the Royal Engineers'

my attempts to find the source of this description has drawn a blank !

Does anyone know please?

(I've had to crop the scan down to  the postmark to  fit the forum's limit)

THE POSTMARK ITSELF LOOKS NORMAL TO ME.
However the date slugs look rather "home made" - perhaps that is what a R.E. workshop was asked to produce?

thanks Alistair, normal but not quite  the same as pre-war cancels.

it is likely because the Japs modified the pre-war cancels, and some lost their date slugs in the process

many thanks
