Title: FPO 221 during May 1941.
Post by: Chris Weddell on November 19, 2016, 11:54:19 AM
Hello All

Could anyone confirm the dates when FPO 221 was based in Crete during May 1941 and which units would have used it? The only reference I have is from Entwistle's WW2 checklist of British Army and Field Post Offices which only gives the date of May 1941.

                                                              Regards

                                                              Chris

FPO 221 replaced FPO 192 at Suda Bay, Crete in late April 1941,(a general change of datestamps in Middle East).
I have recorded dates from 29 AP 41 to 4 MY 41.

The troops on Crete in this period would include many who had been evacuated from Greece.
There will probably be a web site showing units there, although many men would probably no longer be with their units.

Alistair

This helps a lot thank you. I will have a look on the net for the units there at this time.

                                                      Cheers
