Title: NORD-ITALIEN & SUD-ITALIEN handstamps in WW2
Post by: dtrapnell on February 05, 2017, 07:58:49 PM
Following the Allied landings in Italy in 1943, mail from German to Italian addresses was often stamped with one of a variety of handstamps saying one of the above.
The purpose was to separate mail for that part of Italy still held by the Germans in the north from the southern part held by the Allies (to be handed to the Allied postal authorities for delivery).
Please will ayone with any example of such marks be so kind as to email me a scan (or more)?
Needless to say, every sending will be gratefully acknowledged.
Many thanks  DT
