Title: RAF Aircraft Movements
Post by: Khalid Omaira on March 05, 2017, 06:07:55 PM
Is there any published work about RAF Airplanes movements during the 1940s & 1950s? I am interested in particular to understand the 'Forces Mail' routes from RAF Sharjah to England.

Any comments and suggestion will be appreciated.

Regards,

"Flight from the Middle East" by Air Chief Marshal Sir David Lee covers the history of the RAF in the Arabian Peninsula and adjacent territories 1945 - 1972. Might be useful for your purpose although not directly covering postal history.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for the message. I have this reference, very important and useful but I couldn't find the details I am looking for.

I assume the route is:

RAF Sharjah - Bahrain - Shaibah & from Basrah via BOAC to England.
RAF Sharjah - Bahrain - Habbaniyah.

Regards,
Khalid
