Title: SS "CESAREVITSCH ALEXEI".
Post by: Chris Weddell on April 08, 2017, 08:16:45 AM
This cover appears to be posted from the SS "CESAREVITSCH ALEXEI". Does anyone have any information on this ship. I can only find a Russian passer ship of this name which does not appear to have any connection with this cover ???

The cover has Transport E 2816 on it. There is also a name of Captain J Alleman on the cover. Does this mean a troop transport ship. Any help at all would be gratefully received as I am stumped with this one.

                                                  Thanks

                                                    Chris  :-\.

This website lists this ship as sunk off Lerwick on 29th July 1917 by U60. She was a Russian owned steamer but built in 1903 in Dundee. I cannot see any reference to the name of her captain
