I recently acquired the attached "Hands across the Sea" postcard cancelled by a naval dumb postmark. The sender gives his address as "Hulk J.S.Stery, Alexandra wharf." and states "having plenty of work here coaling patrol boats." The only Alexandra wharf I am aware of is at Lerwick, Shetland. I have looked through the naval lists of ships (especially colliers) but can not find this one. I may have mis-read his writing and wondered if anyone else has any better ideas on the name of the vessel.

Chris,
APO S.39 attached. Note the very small numbers on the Reg Label. Regards, Graham

Chris, I attach all those i have for BFPOs and APOs. All the other ones I have for FPOs are the large blank registration label with the appropriate FPO handstamp applied. I presume you do not need to see those. Regards, Graham

I refer to the Article in Journal 325 on page 310 about Majunga. I have a Forces Air Letter from Majunga cancelled by F.P.O.170 on 18 Sept 1970. This FPO is not listed in the article so I wondered if it was from Ballykelly. The air letter appears to be philatelic as there is no message inside. Could any member confirm where FPO 170 was located.

I saw this postcard (of Margate beach and pier) in a postcard dealers cheap box and the large manuscript BEF on the back caught my attention. My first thought was why is there no Censor mark. I then noticed that it is was postmarked Margate Kent / Gt Britain / 31st May 1940 machine in red. That's when the penny dropped! It is from a Dunkirk evacuee who has been landed at Margate. He writes "Arrived home OK, and feeling fine. Alex" It is addressed to Mrs W Hodden, Deane Cottage, Monymusk, Aberdeenshire. I have never seen such a card before and wonder if anyone else has.
