I attach a scan of a cover which according to the pencilled notation on the front was censored at HMS Afrikander in South Africa. It has been hit with a red dumb "POST OFFICE MARITIME MAIL" post marker. Can any member advise me where this post marker would have been applied. HELP.

Hi, Ross, that is Goldup's B16 mark (Naval Mails 1939-49, pub. TPO and Seapost Society, 1950 - page 9 for the illustration, and page 8 for some write-up). It was applied in the UK, although he doesn't commit to a precise location. My own best guess/assumption is London.

Sorry - not looked at the Forum for some time. Concur Nick Colley - it is a London stamp.
