Hi can anyone help me please, with information about the cachet 'British Naval Base constantinople'
I know there was a Brit. base there, but what about this cachet?
the postmark  is 25 Nov 21, the return address on the flap  is:
T Harry, C.C.B.'s Office, H.M. Naval Base, Constantinople

many thanks

The officers at the Naval Base at Constantinople, were carried on the books of HMS Julius (a harbour craft) also 4 Trawlers and Motor Launches listed.
The CCB might (only a guess) stand for Captain Constantinople Base, which was commissioned on 1st October 1919
No. T Harry listed as an officer (probably a rating)
Hope of some help

Hi Susan

The scan below whilst not directly related to your query may help you to put together exactly what presence the navy had in Constantinople post-war.

I've scanned the whole page, partly to boast about actually having written something up and not kept it in an envelope, but also to save repeating the info in this post
