"This is for the second time of asking" (in a different way)!
Please will anyone with mail from WW2 Italian POWs in Germany addressed to Italy look to see if any of their cards/covers has "sud-Italien" in manuscript or handstamp? I have seen such when I was not interested. A kind correspondent from another society sent me one (staight line h/s). There must be many more "out there".
PLEASE be so kind as to help an on-going study that is stuck at present.
Of course all help will be gratefully and fully acknowledged.
VMT!

Hello David,

I am sorry i had not seen this sooner. I have 3 letters with 3 different types of the "Suditalien" handstamps.

1, Stalag VI-J Fichenhein/Krefeld : No datestamp.

I will send the other 2 scans in separate reply's.

                                          Regards

                                          Chris.

THANKS SO MUCH, Chris! Eccellente!
Just what I thought must be "out there". There is another variety I have seen in a nearly-square box.

Please may I have your permission to use these in a short article for the FPHS Jolurnal and, after publication in that (subject to the Editor's acceptance), in Fil-Italia?

Renewed thanks
David

David,

I am sorry again for getting back to slowly, I have a number of things on at the moment.

I am very happy for you to use the scans for your article. I am not near my cards at the moment i will look at them tomorrow evening and measure the marks for you.

                                                        Regards

                                                        Christopher

Thanks again, Chris.
More experience now tells me I must check the Stalag number where these h/s were used.
So please be so kind as to confirm or correct the following -
Boxed Suditalien ? Camp VI K or X?
s/l Suditalien top R no cds on front  ?? VI d or b
ditto cds 19.5.44 camp XI b or B
What the censor's h/s records can be checked by the printed camp deatil on the reverse, as you will remember.
Sorry to give you more work but it will greatly add to the vaule of my study.l
Best wishes
david
