I am attaching a scan of a postcard from the German Military Mission in Turkey in 1916. I note that the sender has written "Formation 505" on the card.

Is there any source which could tell me if this was a particular German unit and if so where they were located?

Ingo Egerlandt

Hi Alan,

the unit was "Kraftwagen Park 505", today "Fahrbereitschaftsdienst" oder "KvD = Kraftfahrer vom Dienst" in english Car service unit. This unit work for the Deutsch Militär Mission Konstantinopel.

In German is for me better.

Die Einheit Kraftwagen Park 505 gehörte der Deutschen Militär Mission in Konstantinopel direkt an. Es war die Fahrbereitschaft für die Mission.
