This card bears CM6/3808 and is franked FPO112, dated 17 De 17. According to Proud, 112 was subject to a security exchange with 145 Brigade, from July 17 - January 18. 145 Brigade arrived in Italy on (9th) December 1917. This seems to accord with the writer's comment about "wintering in the sunny south".

However, if 145 Brigade took FPO112 to Italy, leaving their own frank with 112 Brigade on the Western Front, how did they then start reusing it at the end of that exchange phase? Also, how did FPO112 then get exchanged with 124 Brigade, who were also in Italy.

Am I getting confused and missing something?

FPO 112 as used in France during security period IV by 145 Bde, 48th Div, and they took it to Italy detraining on 2nd December 1917, I have it used on 6th December until 25th February 1918, I also have their own datestamp FPO 145 used on 27th February 1918.
I have only one recording of CM6 No 3808 on 30th December 1917
I notice Proud does not list that FPO 112 was used in Italy, although I did notify him before he published the new volume

Proud only lists one type of datestamp for FPO 112, FPO 145  had two different ones, i.e. distinctive shaped '5's
