Cover of the Day, 5th May - HMCS Royal Mount

I just pulled this one out of a drawer full of material awaiting action.... How long is the lockdown lasting?

This undated cover is addressed to a young (?) lady in Arbroath, Scotland and bears the stamp "From HMC Ship, Examined by DB/N 910. Colbeck and Hampson list this as from HMCS Royal Mount (pennant number K677)

Royal Mount was a River class Frigate launched in April 1944 and commissioned in August that year. The original name for the ship was Mount Royal, after the suburb of Montreal, but the name was switched to avoid confusion with HMCS Montreal.

She had a very short service life, joining the Mid-Ocean Escort Force in November. She was undergoing a refit from May-October 1945 and was decommissioned and place in reserve in November. She was sold for scrap in 1946.
