COVER OF THE DAY, 21 JULY

No particular reason for posting this naval cover from Indian Army 12, located at Port Sudan, and dated 23 July, 1943. Censored using Type n.109 censor marker. I have included a scan of the return address as I cannot decide if the cover was from the Naval Officer in Charge, Port Sudan, or somebody in his office. Not a bad cover however.

A Very nice cover Ross.  I do like covers which shows the senders details in full, especially naval covers which usuall tend to have undated POMM markings.  Yours has a nice IFPO datestamp.  Given the senders rank I do think that he may well have been the NOIC himself.  However, other specialised naval collectors on the forum will no doubt be able to confirm one way or the other.

Cdr A.J.T Robertson (Retd) was the Naval Officer in Charge at Port Sudan in 1943, he has written and censored the cover himself. The use of the Indian
FPO 12 in July extends Proud's date of use from March 43 to July. It was later used in Cyprus
On 1st October 1943 he was appt as c/o of HMS Phoenix, RN Aircraft Repair Yard at Feyid, Egypt.
He ended the war in Australia, in May 1945 appt to HMS Golden Hind II, Sydney, i/c SRR(D) Camp, RN Repair Base.
