I have attached a copy of a registered letter from FPO 754 cancelled with the date stamp Field Post Office 754 3 FE 48 - certain on this date.

Both Proud (History of The British Army Postal service Vol 111 and Mike Dobbs (Working Copy) British Field Post Office 1952 - 2012 record this date stamp in Vienna from August 1948 to July 1955, use before this is last noted as in Bari Italy in late 1945.

So the question is where was FPO 754 used in Feb 48 - Very late Italy, or early in Vienna?

Any thoughts

Peter

Unfortunately I cannot help -

Alistair's record card for 754 only records Proud's dates
The typescript listing I have also only gives 20 Aug 48 APO S.564 BTA
The earlier recording is 14 Apr 44 S.574 CMF
