American Forces on the Western Front WWI

As part of my study of the Type 5 Censor I've been pondering the useage of British Censor numbers by the American Forces,

I know there was a set of British datestamps allocated to them.  I've seen material with American cancels and the British Type 6 censors.  Does anyone know if they also used the Type 5?  This will be prior mid to late October 1917.
