Dear Members,

on ebay, you can find some envelopes from the correspondence from Lieut. Borner.

http://www.ebay.de/itm/GB-FORCES-IN-FRANCE-1940-NAVAL-EXPEDITIONARY-FORCE-CHURCHILL-WORLD-WAR-II-/191949451070?hash=item2cb1142f3e:g:HgoAAOSw65FXwAsr

I have read about, the FPHS has got articles about this Operation from Nick Colley and Alistair Kennedy. Whe can me send a copy please?

Thank you.

The only Royal Navy Officer listed in the May 1940 Navy List with the surname of Bonner
is a Midshipman M.J.H Bonner serving on HMS York (Cruiser), but she was in Norway in
Apr and May 1940 bringing the troops home from that ill-fated  expedition

Hi Frank,

it is from France. I think about is Operation Royal Marine. The letters NEF is Naval Expeditionary Force.

I agree, but where did the rank of Lieut come from, he is not listed as a Royal Marine, so is he Army ??

You can view the whole Colley / Kennedy article in the online Journal here:
http://www.forcespostalhistorysociety.org.uk/journal_archive/journals-current---291/journal-309.pdf

It provides some background to Lieut Bonner as follows:
"Borner joined London Division RNVR as a paymaster sub-lieutenant in 1934 and was mobilised in August 1939. "
and also provides a web reference to his obituary, from where Colley / Kennedy obtained much of his background information:

Note: surname is Borner not Bonner !

Cheers, Mike  ;)
