I have a cover with what appears to be a censor mark - or is it just another Registration mark?
Interesting I obtained this from the USA (on ebay) and the seller stated that the recipient was Fg Off Kozik Roman Ignacy from 301 Sqn. The cover was posted in Sanok. I now need to know why he was in Belguim in 1946 when the Squadron was based at Chedburgh near Cambridge. Possibly in leave?
I would appreciate any information concerning the red mark.
Many thanks

Hi, Ian, I've only had one idea about this since you first showed it me the other day: I'm trying to reconcile why an ex-pat Polish aircrew was in Belgium early in 1946, with what is presumably a longish term address over there - long term inasmuch as he appears to be using it as a mailing address. So:

Was he perhaps, on secondment over there (did Belgium have an air force at this point ?), and that address was his billet ? I don't suppose we'll ever know for sure what the circumstances were, but it was just a thought.

Wrt the circular red mark - I've still no idea. Specialist knowledge required there, I think. Presumably a Polish specialist should be able to assist - do we have any among our membership ?

Thanks Nick,
Interesting that he still had his RAF rank on the address. Also presume he didn't want to return to Poland under Russian rule? There were many Polish airmen that remained in the RAF and I came across several in my time in 60's.
