Afternoon Team

Staying with the Gallipoli campaign,  incoming mail is scarce to say the least.  Of what we do come across 99% is casualty mail or casualty related.

Today I show an incoming cover to Lieut Colonel Lional Arthur Bosanquet 9th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters.

Endorsed "Wounded" and returned to sender.  As write up shows returned after wounding and Killed in Action.

Not to in any way denigrate Richard's C Objector cover which is a great illustration of history, however one cannot but compare men like this with the Objectors.  Brings into question "when does the individual become greater than the state" Food for thought perhaps.

On this day when we remember the end of one War in Europe we should spare a thought for men such as this who did what they perceived as their duty in an earlier conflict.
