Cover of the Day - Card from Portugal to 28th Infantry

As this initiative is coming to an end tomorrow, I thought I should share some more Portuguese material with you.

This card was sent from a lady in Portugal to he brother, serving with the 28th Infantry Brigade, part of the Portuguese 1st Division. The intriguing thing is that it appears to be written in Norwegian. The circumstances behind this are not clear and enquiries I have made of various people who might know have brought no information

Well, I see it's addressed to a Mr. Carel Jensen - so, apparently a civilian with a Nordic (not Portuguese) name. That would explain the Nordic language, but it begs the question: what is the connection between a Nordic civilian and a Portuguese infantry unit in France in 1917?

I wonder if it is relevant that the Scandinavian countries were neutral in WW1?
