Afternoon Team

Probably one for Alan here with AK's index cards,

Shortly after arriving in Salonika in December 16 bringing with them the cancels used in France FPO 166 for 179th Bde, 167 for 180th Brigade and 1Y for 181st Brigade skeleton cancels were issued with an X 179, 180 X and  X 181. Earliest date I record is 1st January 1917 for FPO X 181, others probably the same.  Later the X was removed. Late March is the best I can pin down here.

Can anyone add anything to these dates please.

Also by any chance does anyone have an example for FPO T 60, one which so far has eluded me. Illustration if possible please.

Planning a major article on the 60th Division, the most interesting of the Salonika units due to the variety of cancels used in such a short period.

We are in Kernow at the moment, so I can't check his records for at least a week

Thanks Alan.  No rush.  Enjoy your break.

Back now

I have looked at AK's cards and the earliest dates he has recorded for each are:

X179 - 4th Jan - Proud 2nd
180X - 10th Jan - Proud 8th
x181 - 2nd Jan - this is earlier than the suggested date in Proud (5th)

Hope this helps
