Here is an American Consular Service cover sent from Vladivostok to Ralph Palmer Uptegrove [1888-1923] in Asheville, North Carolina. Postmarked U. S. S. New Orleans/Vladivostok Siberia (31.8.21). The New Orleans was the station ship in Vladivostok on four separate occasions between 1919 and 1922. Capt. Uptegrove, a Yale graduate, had been regimental adjutant in the 326 Field Artillery in France from September 1918 until February 1919.
