Happy Boxing Day,  Hopefully all fit and not hung over.

A Quiz for today

I show a 1916 Christmas Menu Card for 'D' Company, 2/5th Durham, Light Infantry.

On December 3rd 1916 Battalion HQ and D Coy moved to Kilo 71 which was near the front line on the Struma River. Monotonous life and bitterly cold.

Card has been signed by 8 Officers of 'D' Company

Capt W.E. Walker  Company Commander
Lt Charles W Maitland (7th A & S Highlanders attached to 2/5 DLI
W Madgin
J.H. Tatchell
H.P. Dixon
Charles M Hale

H.C.  ?????

Lt F.W. Hogan  Quartermaster

Can anyone identify H.C. No 7 on the card?

Chris

Indeed it is - how on earth you saw the B in Barnard I don't know!
Initially I thought it might be Howard.

I suppose if you find a list of officers in 2/5 DLI you can more easily recognise a signature - good work!
