pacific route WWII

Cover with 2/5.5d said to be a pacific route rate. The letter inside is from No.1 Squd. S.A.A.F. and dated 17.April 1941. Would this be by Pan Am clipper, route 14 or 19?
Does the rate make sense? From Egypt were would it go to join up with an air route across the Pacific?

Hello Ed. No expert on these things but in April 1941 suggest it went by Empire flying boat to Singapore, and then on to Hong Kong, where it would have picked up the PANAM clipper service to San Francisco via Honolulu. Sad thing about all these airmail covers is they almost never got arrival backstamps (unless registered, & not always then) making it almost impossible to be absolutely certain as to route, especially in WW2. Californian newspapers are available free on line and might report aircraft arrivals, though I have not checked. http://cdnc.ucr.edu/ should get you started. Good luck! Colin
